Plexi wall

Just an idea....has anyone done a wall with the baffle being a big sheet of polycarbonate. Boxes have been seen with the sides done in plexi to look inside but not a baffle.

Questions arising would it be structurally sound. Mounting the subs might be tricky unless you had someone machine the mounting holed and cut to size.

Could also use clear tubing for bracing. Drill and tap maybe.

I have zero experience with walls, so is this just crazy or what?

Sure its possible, but extremely expensive to do.

Also polycarbonate and plexi are not the same thing, FYI. Plexi = acrylic, polycarbonate = lexan. They are both clear plastics, but they each have their own advantages and disadvantages.

It would be expensive as Fuck. A 3"x48"x48" sheet of plexiglass is $4k

Been done many many times.

First I remember (even though it's not a sub box, more of a fourth order loading wall for his trunk box) was Fishman's Corolla in 1991.

Google image search for plexiglass sub box or acrylic enclosure. There are many and I'm sure if you click through they'll tell you how it's done best.

Static drops are my bag.

Main reason other than being badass is to display some art work inside the enclosure. Plan for back side is to do standard fiberglass displaying amps but could hide amps underneath and put sheet on the back instead i guess.
