RooTxBeeR Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 You wanting to bump for 10+ minutes is going to have more to do with your alt being able to supply the biggest amount to your system would be the best fix. With what you have already, 1-2 g31 on top of that and you should be good. You have 450a pull, take the alts out of that and with what batteries you already have you should be good with the 2. alaskanzx5 Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 XS's chart doesn't count on you playing it for 10 minutes straight. SImilar to what was said above I would just go in assuming you'll have to try it and see. Get it all in there and just play it to the voltage you're seeing. As a general rule if it starts slowly dropping into the 11's you need more batteries, but if when you turn it up it immediately drops into the 11's on charged batteries you need more grounds. Ser buddy but your last statement is wrong. More grounds does not give him more amperae supply. At the end of the day he still only has a 150 amp alt that wont get the job done. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

It's only wrong if it's done correctly in which case it wouldn't do what I just said. More grounds will decrease drop if he grounds the amps to somewhere other than the front batts (like the chassis or frame) and does the "big 3", then you're trying to ground 450a of draw through 1 piece of 1/0 or any number of other similar scenarios. I agree with you, but I don't think your brain went in the same direction mine did. Immediate drop is almost always (within reason obviously) a ground mistake like I mentioned. alaskanzx5 Posted October 24, 2014 Report Posted October 24, 2014 Common grounds are better but yes a single 0guage wire can't handle 450 amps but I would hope op already new that. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
wrathchild281 Posted October 24, 2014 Author Report Posted October 24, 2014 I'll be running close to 4k with a 250amp singer alt, 2 runs of 0 gauge and hopefully fit a group 31 under the hood. If voltage drop is below 13v ill add either a second battery to the back or a 1k farad or bigger cap bank using Maxwell caps. As an idea of what it takes for that power range. You said you have a 150 amp alt Xs 1200 Xs 3400 What about wiring? Cca/ofc? Size? Amperage rating? Big 3? My opinion Install the alt and batteries with half the power going to your subs. If staying above 13v full tilt add the other sub amp. If dropping below 12v add another battery or 2 untill voltage is above 13v for at least a few songs. A bigger alt would be better with such a small alt you need more batteries. So me and you have exactly the same battery amount but your alt is 100 more amps and roughly were taking about running the same amount of power 4-5k. I dont see a huge difference but i will give it a shot. I use my bed for throwing my dirtbike in the back and thats why i opted against the blow through idea and same thing for making a custom battery tray or something back there. I do guys on my car have the emissions egr stuff which i dont need so i took off as well as a pump off the crank i dont need. My initial idea was i could run a dual alt setup which it sounds you guys are talking me into. I wish i knew a bit more about the ultra cap stuff but i dont and dont feel safe to rush something like that into my vehicle. 225 Excessive Amperage Alt. 4 Yellow top batteries Pioneer AVH-6600 Kicker KQ5 2 FI 18 BTL's fully loaded 2 zx 2500.1's 4 ks6.5 coaxials 4 ks5.25 coaxials kx650.4 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2358078
wrathchild281 Posted October 24, 2014 Author Report Posted October 24, 2014 you want 0 voltage drop? dual 300 amp alts. Thats my thought. i already have a chrome xs 150 HO alt and i think i will see if i can work a bracket with a matching alt and go from there. I agree with your thoughts but i had a debate with other ppl online wether or not if my total alt amp production is in total higher than my demands(450amps) than i shouldnt have a volt drop while cruising even with the batteries i have. There point was i still need more battery to physically be able to push my stuff but my argument is that the batts wouldnt even be really working hard..? not sure. My last system guys i had was 2 kicker zx2500.1s on a 225 excessive amp. alt and a total of 4 yellowtops including one under the hood. I would never get below low 12s usually no matter how long i slammed it if i was driving and working the alt to max. 225 Excessive Amperage Alt. 4 Yellow top batteries Pioneer AVH-6600 Kicker KQ5 2 FI 18 BTL's fully loaded 2 zx 2500.1's 4 ks6.5 coaxials 4 ks5.25 coaxials kx650.4 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2358078
alaskanzx5 Posted October 24, 2014 Report Posted October 24, 2014 Since I have more supply ( and ill be running at 2ohms on both my sub amp less draw) I do t need as much storage. I Sa I stall it and watch voltage carefully. If its dropping below your comfort then upgrade to a bigger alt or add a second alt. If that's not an options batteries but make sure you charge them up good a few times week. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
wrathchild281 Posted October 24, 2014 Author Report Posted October 24, 2014 does anyone know if the xs voltage control module would let me max my alt closer to 15+ volt range. I used to have the mla unit years ago and i liked what it did. Thinking since i got this vcm it will work in sync with my xs alt and let me adjust it from inside the car? 225 Excessive Amperage Alt. 4 Yellow top batteries Pioneer AVH-6600 Kicker KQ5 2 FI 18 BTL's fully loaded 2 zx 2500.1's 4 ks6.5 coaxials 4 ks5.25 coaxials kx650.4 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2358078
