wrathchild281 Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 Hey guys im just a few weeks out from my build being completed and I currently think im pretty set with the electrical i hope for 2 new style kicker kx2400.1s and a ix500.4 and a 75.2. Roughly 5k rms and 450 amp current draw or so. Currently i have sitting a new xs chrome 150 amp alt.(not installed) (build is for an 81 elco) I do have installed Both under the hood a xs d3400 and a d1200.(small 3.1l motor plenty of room) I also have sitting and think i may throw in the small size cab is a xs xp750 and my real question here is with that what ive listed in mind how am i sitting for someone who enjoys daily pounding at full tilt for 10 plus minutes. Inside the cabin i am fitting the amps and a already build fiber glass encloure box. I am having built a custom center console(where i think the xp750 will be and a xs vcm module. Would you guys add anything else like a capcell or even a 10 farad cap? i know most times the cap answer is no but thats usually people asking who already dont have any batteries in line which im kinda average i think for what im asking for. Any suggestions here would be great thanks! 225 Excessive Amperage Alt. 4 Yellow top batteries Pioneer AVH-6600 Kicker KQ5 2 FI 18 BTL's fully loaded 2 zx 2500.1's 4 ks6.5 coaxials 4 ks5.25 coaxials kx650.4 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2358078
yurvalentine Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 I think you're gunna need a lot more batteries for a real 5k
Omega5002 Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 For that power, I'd consider at least 2-3 good group 31 batteries in the back, like an XS D3100. Don't bother with caps unless you're talking Maxwell caps. 2003 Kia Sorento Team Subsonic LowsTeam Bassin' on a Budget2016 Rebuild Under Construction Best score: 150.2 at 40hz (3k, 2 Custom HDC3 15's) Usaci style(door open, in the kick)
wrathchild281 Posted October 23, 2014 Author Report Posted October 23, 2014 Really cause according to the xs power chart I'm ok and of the batteries I'm already running the 1200 and 3400 stack up on paper like a single d3100 so according to u I need like 3 d3100s for 5k? I'd think that's closer for a 7.5k+ range 225 Excessive Amperage Alt. 4 Yellow top batteries Pioneer AVH-6600 Kicker KQ5 2 FI 18 BTL's fully loaded 2 zx 2500.1's 4 ks6.5 coaxials 4 ks5.25 coaxials kx650.4 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2358078
evermaxx Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 You usually want 1 group 31 per 2k of power. If it was me, id go with 3 3100's, and your 3400 upfront. Team Subsonic Lows Get your garbage EMF products of my amp bitch Man....it makes a nice work bench
alaskanzx5 Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 I'll be running close to 4k with a 250amp singer alt, 2 runs of 0 gauge and hopefully fit a group 31 under the hood. If voltage drop is below 13v ill add either a second battery to the back or a 1k farad or bigger cap bank using Maxwell caps. As an idea of what it takes for that power range. You said you have a 150 amp alt Xs 1200 Xs 3400 What about wiring? Cca/ofc? Size? Amperage rating? Big 3? My opinion Install the alt and batteries with half the power going to your subs. If staying above 13v full tilt add the other sub amp. If dropping below 12v add another battery or 2 untill voltage is above 13v for at least a few songs. A bigger alt would be better with such a small alt you need more batteries. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
UnderLoK Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 XS's chart doesn't count on you playing it for 10 minutes straight. SImilar to what was said above I would just go in assuming you'll have to try it and see. Get it all in there and just play it to the voltage you're seeing. As a general rule if it starts slowly dropping into the 11's you need more batteries, but if when you turn it up it immediately drops into the 11's on charged batteries you need more grounds. If at first you do not succeed, you are doing it wrong! -ARSCheck out my walled TBSS build over here4 Fi Team 18s on 2 Cactus K9 DS18 doors on 2 MBQ 1Ks, Vifa pillars on a STL4.500 Pioneer X8500 6 XS Power D7500, 1 3400S Second Skin 2 270a Mechman Alts
Rich Schenk Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 With that lil alt i woulld do d3400 up front and 4 d3100s in back I would do minimum 2 runs 1/0 ofc to back and big 4 1/0 ofc. mcfalcon Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 wow. Alot lot of information here that conflicts what im planning. Guess I will have to start another thread. Still learning but have started gathering.
Guest Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 biggest alt you can fit under the hood. two group 31's in the back. see what your voltage drop is. if its bad, add another battery. throw the car on a battery charger once a week or so to top off the batteries.
