Joseph Chambers Posted November 10, 2014 Report Posted November 10, 2014 This is a thread you can use to post your "oh oops" and the things you'd do differently the next time around. Let people know what canyons or lessons you learned so we can avoid the same mistakes. Have fun...and keep it fun. MrBigs63' Posted November 10, 2014 Report Posted November 10, 2014 1. Make sure that you will be able to fit the box into the trunk before it is totally assembled. Made that mistake once. Got it in there, but had to remove a lot of stuff from inside the car. 2. When you are first learning how to solder large gauge terminals, make sure you are using electricians solder and not plumbers solder. Those were fun times. LOL 3. Always check twice and make sure that you are rounding over the correct edge of the panel. Wasted a couple pieces of wood that way. 4. If you have doubts about whether or not you have enough airspace. You don't have enough. Leave it at that. 5. If you are helping a friend, check and make sure that they hook up positive and negative polarities correctly on their amp before you through the fuse in. That one almost ended badly. 6. Do not set gains by ear. Use an oscope or a DD-1. That's a start. I am pretty sure that there is already a thread about this too by the way.
evermaxx Posted November 10, 2014 Report Posted November 10, 2014 not get into car audio. Team Subsonic Lows Get your garbage EMF products of my amp bitch Man....it makes a nice work bench
philrab Posted November 10, 2014 Report Posted November 10, 2014 Just use 0 gauge the first freaking time. Ran 8 gauge for a little mono sub amp, swore I was going to leave well enough alone. Decided I wanted a four channel, yanked out the 8 gauge, ran a 4 gauge to a fused distribution block to power the mono amp and 4 channel. Swore that was it. Now, I want more power on the sub stage. Going to have to run the 4 gauge straight to the amp IF it'll reach, and run a 0 gauge (at least one) back to the hatch for the spare battery and sub amp. Run a damned 0 gauge to begin with and be done with it. SMDH, think I would've learned by now not to think it'll ever be enough. 2015 Toyota Tacoma Build Thread 2007 Mazda 3; 5000K HID's, Kenwood Excelon KDC-X997, Infinity Reference 6.5 comps in front and coaxials in the rear doors, JL 320.4 four channel, Rab Designs built ported enclosure with an SA12, Kenwood monoblock, Redline Leater shift boot/e-brake boot/center console cover, JBR short shifter/shifter bushings/rear motor mount.
