0311Born Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 To begin, I don't care a whole lot for rap. My desire for SPL is minimal. What I want is simple: uncomfortably loud, while remaining consistently clear. Here is a detailed list of all the different purchases I've made thus far: Two Sundown SA-10" subs, D2 ohm. That's it. I know what you're thinking, what a douche. Well I agree with you, I am quite the douche. I keep making up my mind on a sub amp, and then I hear that it's garbage. American Bass VFL100.1 is the front-runner as of now. And then I make up my mind on speakers, and they're junk. For fuck's sake, will someone help out a former JL-fanboy? I want approximately 900-1000 watts of clean power running to each sub, as sundown vastly underrates their shit. I'm liking what I read about PPI's midrange speakers, the FT1 super-tweeters, etc. And this is what's on the 'possible' list: PPI 900.4 mid amp PPI PC.692 mid speakers PPI PC.52 other mids PPI BK520.4 high amp CA FT1 super tweeters Help? Go fuck myself? I don't care, you decide. It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything.
hoit Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 not the greatest first thread. first of all, welcome to the forum. second, in my honest opinion...you are going to smoke the hell out of those subs putting that much power on them. I don't know. I can see giving them 10 to 15% more than rated...but 1000 watts on a 600 watt rms sub sounds a little far fetched. they are rated for a reason. I'm not much on the name calling, to each his own. they say you can catch more flies with honey rather than vinegar. there are a lot of people with a lot of knowledge that can offer suggestions and advice, just don't go at it being a dick. why former jl? they still put out really great merchandise in my opinion. as for recommendations for the other equipment you listed...I've never used any so I can't be of any help. 2007 Chevy Aveo Ls sedan 2 Sundown Xv2 on scv4k @ .5 ohm 2 pair RE XXX 6.5 components on sax200.4 @ 2 ohm Big Three, Three runs 1/0 power from front to back, 1 ground front to back Two runs ground from rear bank to chassis XS power d3100 upfront, 3 Odyssey 2150s in bank Singer 220 amp alt
Rich Schenk Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 what sort of vehicle is this goin into? Sundown Sae-1000d would be a safer choice why dont you go with a nice set of components or a couple pairs over the pro audio? 0311Born Posted November 25, 2014 Author Report Posted November 25, 2014 Hoit: Thanks for your input on the power handling, I'll definitely keep that in mind. I thought they could handle a lot more than their rating, but I may have been mislead. As for JL, other products are as good or better for a lot less money. I really like what JL sells, but it's pricey. I think a sundown X12 can just about keep up with a W7 Rich: Going into a 2000 Buick Century. My former Century made it to 331k miles, so I'm sticking with what I know. It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything.
yurvalentine Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 Tons of Sundown nuthuggers will claim the SA's can take 2k rms daily and not even get warm...but most of these people are putting them on Hifonics amps run on a stock electrical system. I would definitely keep it relatively close to rating on them.

Aj11 Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 if his electrical, gain, eq settings are right then those subs will handle 1k each fine. that's without clipping, or playing well below tuning. as far as amp, sundown amps are great! i would get a solid 1500w 2200w amp. always go a Lil bigger on the amp. so of you want.more.power later you have it! like the sa 2500 would be great on 2ohm for you with what you want! and later if you want more run 1ohm. i shouldn't say this to a new member but those things are beasts at .5ohm! PLEASE DON'T RUN AT .5! however, i don't know your budget, room, electrical, if your building your box (i hope so!) but the sq 2200 is a great amp! will give you all the power you will ever need, and really the only amp you'll ever buy if you treat it well. before you do anything, please so some research about gain, bass boost, the big 3... ect. if you know this stuff... look again. loved the post by the way! be humble, we have much to teach if you want to learn jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)

SkarredSierra Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 if you really want to run 1000 rms per subwoofer you could get a pair of soundqubed hds300 10's. soundqubed makes good components too, or i heard that ct sounds has some new component sets. they look pretty sweet.
Aj11 Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 I'm a huge ct nuthugger! but stopped shoving it down peoples throats.
