need some catalytic help!

Recommended Posts

i have a 2002 Pontiac grand prix gt. 3.8L v6

a few weeks ago it developed some issues. smelled like eggs, red lining at 2200rmp no power up hill and terrible mpg.

i now know i need a cat, but here's my thing, all of my friends keep telling me to get a high flow cat. there anywhere from $50-$120 bucks. but the oem cat for my car Is $500-700 bucks.

i don't know if it's me but that just doesn't add up!

i don't really care about hp, or performance. i prolly won't have the car longer then a year.

i just want to pass the inspection that's coming up in 3 months and make it up hills again! if i can get those things with a $50 part please let me know!

but if it's the pipe dream i think it Is, please let me know!

only.need 6 more months out of the car!

i have a guy who can hook me up with a inspection. but i don't want it to be so impassable that he can get in trouble either. this spring i should be making steps towards getting my 09 G8

but with my.current Job i do allot of driving. so i still need this car very much so.

I agree, buy a cheap universal and have someone pass it.

Thanks alaskanzx5 I might just do that
I can recone a sub myself. About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows

came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream.

oh lawd.

you can add the high flow. the only difference i see on stock vs high flow is that the high flow is universal which you will have to cut and weld, stock is a bolt on. if you're not keeping the car there is no need to getting a $500 part for it when you can get it running for $100. you can also clean it by dipping in in soapy water. if you have someone that can help you pass you can remove the internals.

what are emissions tests? LOL

Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born.

My penis is bigger than your penis

I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle.
