brent379 Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 alright guys need some advice. its time to beef up my power supply even more. this is what i currently have: dc 270xp alt d3400 under the hood big 3 in sky high ofc 1/0 running: crescendo symphony 800x4 @ 2 ohms per channel, 2 sets of crfescendo cz 6.5s in the doors aq2200d at .5 ohm, 2 dc lvl 3 12 m2's just intalled the dc's this weekend. im not sure how much my voltage is dropping yet, still need to get my voltmeter in and havent had time to check it with a dmm, but at full tilt im slipping the alternator belt, my 4 channel cuts out, and i got BAD headlight dimming at 80 on the freeway. and i know its not a clipping issue because all gains are set with the dd-1. so my next step is adding a battery, maybe two. im just not sure how to figure out exaclty what i need. how do you guys go about figuring all this out? and when i add them, im assuming im going to need 2 runs of 1/0 front batt to back batt(s) right?

brent379 Posted December 23, 2014 Author Report Posted December 23, 2014 2013 wrx unfortunately you are correct lol. just put them in and already want more. the only way to go bigger tho is to wall it off. there is no room in the trunk. wont lie tho, those lvl 3's are gettin it!
Bump4life Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 that alt and battery should be able to come close to keeping up with what you have. make sure all your wiring is good. grounds msut be double and triple checked. amps shouldnt be shutting off. to run what you have id have 2 runs back of OFC 1/0 or 2/o welding. big 3 which you have. and maybe a bank of caps or small battery in rear. but to be honest i would think what you have should be close to keeping up check grounds. brent379 Posted December 23, 2014 Author Report Posted December 23, 2014 both amps are grounded to the coilover mounts by the rear wheel wells, only place i could go without having a long ass ground wire lol. ive had my 2200 grounded there for over a year and no problems, but i wander if its a problem for the 4 channel because i do have backfeed thru my door speakers, i was thinking it was maybe the shitty rcas i had to use.

brent379 Posted December 23, 2014 Author Report Posted December 23, 2014 ill do that! does it matter what is playing when i take the readings? should it be something that draws really hard?
SLYentist Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 I'm not a huge fan of the strut tower grounds, because usually the electrical connection is limited by welds. Is there any place in the area that the factory uses as a ground point? Maybe for the rear defrost/wiper/tail lights. Cables and wires almost never fail; the terminations do.
