YukonDCXL Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 I have two dc 3.5s and I wanna know if I fused them properly. I added the dual 1/0awg inputs to each of them so a total of 4 power wired going from amps to bus bar and I fused each of those with 150 amp fuse... is this correct? also I put the 1/0 awg ground inputs in also but only had enough wire to run one ground to each amp, could this cause any problems having two power and only one ground?
brent379 Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 so you have dual amp inputs for the power wire going to the amp but only 1 ground for the amp?
islandpride684 Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 fuse to what your wire is rated for and also you should match your grounds to your power wire, so two runs of power to two runs of ground... YukonDCXL Posted December 23, 2014 Author Report Posted December 23, 2014 I will be adding my second ground, I just ran out.
YukonDCXL Posted December 23, 2014 Author Report Posted December 23, 2014 Can it cause distortion the way it is now with only one ground per amp and two powers?
MrSkippyJ Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 it just makes having dual + inputs pointless. F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69
YukonDCXL Posted December 23, 2014 Author Report Posted December 23, 2014 I have cadence wire but not sure what fuses it calls for I think I saw they are supposed to be 200a
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 You fuse for your current demands not the wires rating, you should use the smallest fuse you can. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
YukonDCXL Posted December 23, 2014 Author Report Posted December 23, 2014 I am using 150's now and it works fine. What will happen if a fuse too big is being used?
MrSkippyJ Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 as long as it isn't too big for the wire rating you are fine. F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69
