AstoSoup Posted January 2, 2015 Report Share Posted January 2, 2015 So I am finishing my new box, got my front stage where I want it pretty much and another alt. and new AGM are coming very soon. This leaves me with the need of an amp powerful enough to push both 15's, instead of one. The subs are Powerbass 3XL 152D's, 1000RMS, 2ohmDVC (subs handle 1.5k easily). So I need power at 2ohms, or .5ohm and have looked at several different amps. Budget is a concern, but not totally a limiting factor, meaning the cheaper the better but I will splurge if I HAVE to. There is one concern however, my class limits me to 2500RMS. This means it can not exceed a RATED power above 2.5k, at your load. If I drop a 1ohm stable amp to .5, this is fine however, so I figure getting a 2 - 2.5k@1ohm and dropping it to .5 would be my cheapest bet. Here are a few of the amps I have looked into.... Any suggestions for the power I need at lowest possible cost are greatly appreciated. Trying hard to not make this a vs. thread, these are just some that I have considered. Would REALLY like to stay below $400, while making sure the subs are getting a clean 2.5k after rise. Voltage drop SHOULD not be an issue... Thanks! Subs - (2) PowerBass 3XL 15, 1000w RMS, 3" flat wound coil, 562oz motor, 10" spider. Sub Amp - Audiopipe GD6001 @.5ohm, clamped 2825RMS. Box - 9.6 cu^3 net @35Hz, three 6" aero's. Charging - Energizer 120Ah AGM under the hood, MaxLife 75Ah in the rear. Big 3, 140A aftermarket alt. (off brand) Wires - Two JL Audio 2/0ga OFC. runs to rear, 4ga. power/2ga. ground to component amp (OFC), 1/0ga. OFC Knu Konceptz Kolossus Kandy everywhere else.
