YukonDCXL Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 I recently installed a d3400 and when I received the battery is was sitting steady at 12.6 volts. I have been noticing in the morings it is down to around 11.8 but it has been dropping a little below 30 degrees at night... is this normal?

YukonDCXL Posted January 12, 2015 Author Report Posted January 12, 2015 I have never charged it. Hooked it up had system playing for a few days with and but the last week no system playing at all. I use my smd vm-1 to check my voltage and when I just turn the key on in the morning it reads below 12. How can I get a good charge to it without spending a few $100 on charger?
TRON Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 Charge it regularly. I have two d3400s under the hood and at -35c (-31f) I could probably drive on the starter. I charge once every two weeks though, because my commute to work is short. Avalanche Alpine Type S comps Alpine Type S 10'' Alpine MPR-F300 Alpine MRX-M50 Mechamn 270 XS Power d3400s
brent379 Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 definately invest in a charger. as a noob to battery maintanence, i learned that even tho the alternator is supposed to recharge the battery, it doesnt actually charge it like an actual charger does. look into the ctek 7002, 120$ off amazon. bad ass little charger. keep up on your batts! it does make a huge difference.

Sinister-David Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 i would look into to make sure u dont have something drawing on it causing it and also if your alt is charging right and putting out the right amount of amperage my d3400 has been in my truck for 5 years and still going strong
YukonDCXL Posted January 13, 2015 Author Report Posted January 13, 2015 What chargers do y'all recommend?
