Can somebody explain how one picks between a 220 amp and something bigger say a 270? I'm nottt putting 2 hoa in. I don't want to buy a 300 if I don't need it eithler. that's my issue.

1) choosing between power output of alts: a 220a alt will generally output more at idle rpms than the 270A. The alt should have ratings for what it will put out at idle and at peak or at so many rpms.

2) that 380A is max current while putting out max power at the rated impedance of 1 ohm I believe. And after impedance rise even when wired at 1 ohm, the amp won't be seeing a 1 ohm load. Which music is nothing to worry about. Different frequencies and air space and much more vary the impedance the amplifier sees at all times. If your goals are for music then grab the 220A alt, do big 3, biggest AGM you can under the hood, and one or two group 31's in the back and I doubt you'll see any drop.

You wont see full load. In your situation... ever.......

That load is at working reactive lowest load, with highest working voltage. "perfect conditions".

You not need worry.

Get a nice high out put alt, best you wanna buy, put a nice bat up front, and 1 D7500 or 2 group 31's and youll be more than fine.

(270, 320, both will yield killer top end, and NICE idle)

Your making this WAY to hard..... and if you want... We can make it A LOT harder.

Put more thought in your enclosure,.......

Depends what type... my hair pin 270 will WALK on any 220 at idle.....

One of the duals here....... on music

2 - 3800's wired retard

Yeah I know, i was thinking of that video and hairpins when I typed it. That's why I was hoping the "generally" part would get through to readers.

@black sounds good!!! Ive been dicked around by local shops n such having me buy what they say will work for what I want. It's been bs. Also.. my current amp, 1500bdcp, seems to drop more when playing the tune of the box. I tuned my current ones to 37 hz. Drops most at 37 and around there. Is that normaL??? And what seems to be ideal for music tuning? 37 seems pretty good I just don't know how much I'll lose and if a the benefits will be worth it if I go to 33 or 35
