Still having bad electric issues , please help!

What about the vehicle factory grounds. I had issues with mine and the factory grounding straps. They were pretty much corroded straight through and had to be replaced.

Well on my rig, there is a ton of them.

But wouldn't three 0 gauge cables take the load before a couple puny ground straps? Path of least resistance right?

I feel since my battery and alt collectively have multiple 0 gauge grounds on solid surfaces, i should be ok.

And again, if I was running 5000 watts RMS, id understand. But 1500??? I realize im running two very power hungry amplifiers, but still.

Edit. Just saw we share the same type of truck....

how good is your belt wrap. did you go smaller on the belt ,when you added the mechman?

Ya know, i didn't add a new belt. The tensioner markings are right about where they should be. I could grab like, a 1/4 inch smaller. I did think of that.

But i doubt that would be the all and all problem solver. If I was seeing these drops at idle only, I could see it being a bigger issue.

Just don't get how my buddies JL was pushing more power to my woofer when his electrical is probably, i dont know, twice to three times smaller then mine.

I did get this alt used, but from a trusted person.

Iv always felt my woofer has been underpowered via the T1000. Definitely sounds more like 5, 600 watts rather then the 1000w+ RMS their known to push at 1Ω. Maybe im looking at it wrong, but i thought if that was the case, the alternator should be the culprit.

I had to what I believe to be original alt (150k miles) prior to this swap. But no improvement

i ran an rf 2500bdcp off a single ho alternator that put out a little over 200 at idle. 2 xs 3400s and i never dropped voltage at idle, and the amp was grounded to a seat bolt, not the best place. i wouldn't worry about the fuse on your alternator wire run either.

So, sounds like my grounds are sufficient then? I really dont know where or how a i could ground any better.

So if thats ruled out, and my battery tests fine, and the alternator has more then enough amperage to power 1500 RMS even at low output , what else could I be missing?

Can maybe tell me if this is normal too: upon starting my truck every morning, voltage is at 14.9, to 15. Very good. But by time I go gather my gym bag and get ready to leave, im back down to between 14.2 and 14.5 (at idle) this is with stereo off, just engine on.

If the vehicle had an under drive pulley setup installed, you'll want to go back to stock pulley's

As was stated earlier you'll want as much belt wrap around the alt's pulley as possible to prevent belt slip.

Check all connections to make sure they are tightened, and use a volt meter for the fuse to make sure your not losing voltage at that point, and check both sides of the fuse for possible loss.

EDIT: Where does the amp ground to? How well is the amps ground attached?

Previous post:

And on grounds: yes, have heard grounding to the floor sheet metal isn't the best because that metal is just spot welded to the frame. Which is why i added leads from the bolts holding down the ground block, about 6 inches under the truck to the frame rail (quarter inch thick steel) , which was also ground down with an electric die grinder and secured with a self drilling bolt, and ring terminal/washer combo.

Anyone else have any input?

If it helps at all, ill add this:

I have always thought my bass amp has some sort of issue, hasn't ever given me any problems, but still.

I clamped both channels, both put out around 19 to 20 amps, but one side was at about 33 volts, the other 44. So one side seemed to be outputting around 600 RMS, the other around 950 RMS at 1 ohm

Again its a Rockford T10001bd. Should be 1000 RMS +. Every birth sheet I've seen is more like 1500 RMS at 14.4v. So I either have an amp issue here, or like this whole thread is discussing, an obvious electrical issue.

try swapping out your friends jl 1,000 and see what happens. It could answer your amp question.

What's your voltage at the alternator? Negative to casing, positive to charging stud. Checking this will rule out all wiring/connection related issues
