Aaron Tuck TBA Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 I need to keep the electrical equal correct? Meaning 2 runs positive and 2 runs negative. I can't do 3 positive 1 negative....it wouldnt help any right? The rear battery will aslo have a negative to sub frame. thanks for some help fellas. Sorry if it's been answered just couldn't find it anywhere. 2000 Cavalier 4 doorXS D925XS D2400XS D31004 runs of 1/0 Mechman 270 2 DD 9515js
Marquisboys Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 Id say the more power runs and neg runs you can do the better. it will only benefit the power flow. 2004 Grand MarquisAA Mayhem 18Crescendo 3500d6.5's AQ Pro AudioAQ Super TweetsImage Dynamics 6x9Soundqubed 125.4MB Quart 80.4144.2 db GONZO 2013 Chrysler 300S Granite Crystal Metallic Exterior Inferno Red Interior 5.7 HEMI AWD LMI Air Hammer Intake Corsa exhaust Custom Tune
2loud4uboyz Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 I would do 3 run of positive and one run of negative . Then from Batterys, run a couple negatives to body frame. If I only had 4 runs of zero.
Aaron Tuck TBA Posted March 11, 2015 Author Report Posted March 11, 2015 Thanks that what I was wondering I have the chassis grounds well up front. So figure good grounds to rear chassis should work well. 2000 Cavalier 4 doorXS D925XS D2400XS D31004 runs of 1/0 Mechman 270 2 DD 9515js
rockFord_Expedition Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 OP, The wire is just an avenue for electrons to travel. They flow in a circle to and from the alternator, and just like the old saying goes, the chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. There is no point in having the ability of carrying 600A of current through your positive runs and only 300A through your negative runs. If that is the case, guess how much current you are wired to support? 300A If you are using the frame as ground (what type of vehicle is this anyways?) then a single front to back ground run is not going to benefit you. Heres a tip: Run all grounds to the frame all on the same side, i.e. passenger side or drivers side, with the shortest and thickest wire you can (OFC carries more current than CCA in a comparison of equal amoutns of wire). Follow the same as short and thick as possible rule with your positive runs. In both cases, the fewer terminations and connections you have the better. Unless we are talking about ridiculous amounts of wire that most don't even come close to using, the only front to back runs should be positive IF you are on a budget or working with a limited amount of wire. This info is also specific to vehicles with an actual frame. Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire
Aaron Tuck TBA Posted March 11, 2015 Author Report Posted March 11, 2015 It's in a 2000 cavalier 4 door. I have ran wires already. 1/0 cca. Have 4 runs in just wondering if 3 positive a 1 negative would help any when also using chassis grounds in the rear. 2000 Cavalier 4 doorXS D925XS D2400XS D31004 runs of 1/0 Mechman 270 2 DD 9515js
rockFord_Expedition Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 Well, what carries more current/provides a better return path to the alternator, the single run of 1/0 CCA or the chassis? Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire
Aaron Tuck TBA Posted March 11, 2015 Author Report Posted March 11, 2015 I see what your saying so clearly by laws of physics I should I will run 2 positive and 2 negatives. Thank you. 2000 Cavalier 4 doorXS D925XS D2400XS D31004 runs of 1/0 Mechman 270 2 DD 9515js
ChevyBoy95 Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 Depending on the style of frame you have, you could do 3 positive runs, and then do say 3-4 frame grounds in the rear as well as 3-4 frame grounds off the front battery, and not run a full length ground period.
