Miguels
If you got $500 to spend just pick out a high end viper or Clifford, you can't go wrong with either. Think about adding a glass break sensor as well. just because i didnt pay full retail dont stop it from being high end.. if you get a fosgate t2500 at a deal at $600 still dont stop it from being high end just went out and took pictures of my alarm.. at the time i got it it went for $400 just the alarm. now they have newer that are a bit better. the only one that was better than mine at the time was the color screen remote . OP just dont go out and pay full retail..shop around and you can find deals.. like i said before. i know people who own electronic stores and they are wholesale stores who sale to the audio shops and places like best buy. i paid $170 for the alarm and $85 to have it installed edit: just so you can have an idea Viper Responder LC3 (Model 5704V) 2-way car security and remote start systemItem #: 6075704V 1 Review This item is no longer available. Do-LowHrzHurts
The avital units are nice too a bit easier to program over the vipers at least I think. Just bring it to a qualified place to get an all in one deal. $500 is plenty of dough for a good 2way assuming you don't go nuts and get back up battery and end up needing oem alarm link harness or module. Do you have power doors, locks??? Just get it to a pro and you will have the install under warranty and have good piece of mind. I'm going to start shopping around tomorrow to find a good deal. May just end up buying online and bringing it to a shop for install. Was really hoping to not pay labor but I need the alarm to work lol. Broke_Audio_Addict
I'd check around both ways because some shops will charge you way more to install if you bring your own alarm and they also usually won't warranty the work. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. Miguels
installation will hurt. when i was shopping around i was getting quoted $800 to $900 for the same alarm installed my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
audiofanaticz
also alarms usually bought 3rd party are flagged and typically not covered under a manufactures warranty (at least with directed units). Unless you have a shop that will do the install and claim they sold the unit. But Ive heard of people that have gotten screwed with that way. Also some shops will not warranty their work with an alarm brought in as well like said above. Directed Electronics will not simply deal with the public, and even as an installer if you need to call in for any issues your on hold for an hour minimum it seems. Typically the 2nd from high end 2way viper/clifford/python alarm is around the $500-600 range installed with installation warranty, and manufacture warranty on the product. These reasons alone, I wont even do my own alarm/remote start installs just because I know how often problems seem to arise, and Im more than capable of doing them and even have a directechs account. afrakes
Ok well good to know. $500 is my top dollar to be honest. Was really hoping install wouldn't be such a bitch to deal with. Well I may just be looking at a middle of the road model from a solid company in that case. Unless anybody has any connections in the general Seattle/ portland area???
