not going to find many 2 or 4 channels handling higher then 14 volts.. just to let you know and that's all i have lol.. only suggestion i would have a separate electrical for the stereo

dls make a 24v amp i think
like i said not many lol and you think so you are not sure.. lol

To start... all car audio amps will work just fine up to 15v so there are plenty of 2 and 4 channel amps that will run on 14v. Its stupid to say there are only a few cause a car runs at 14v or higher so obviously any anp will work just fine

uh first he said 19v in the first post there isnt many 2 or 4 channels that will run that second oh .3 volts you got me there and no most 4 channels wont run much higher then 14.7 volts they go into protect pretty sure the sundowns do and the dc ones do i could be wrong would have to ask them...

How big are you looking at going? In the audio side

Have you thought About a seperate system not linked at all to car?

but run a std car alt driven from the tailshaft

Yes it will only charge when driving but if you have the batt storage there will be no problem, and just have it so as when you charge main batts there is a second charger charging them as well

A lot of hotrods down here drive the alt from either the diff flange or output of trans

That way the engine bay is clean as

And that charges the entire as well as it's the main battery

Correct me if I'm wrong... but you are suggesting me to drive an alternator from an electrically driven drive-train?

Perhaps I should reinforce.... every copper wound delivery source (motor) is *capable* of recouping energy. The controller I intend on using takes advantage of coast/brake regeneration. What I miss out on compared to a mass produced EV is *true* regenerative braking. To sensor and simplify braking for this project; all braking will be done with traditional DOT 3/4/5.1 4/6 piston calipers.

I don't see how driving an alternator is advantageous to this project. I am asking for ~4000 watts peak/continuous (unmeasured) over the course of 100 miles.

You failed to mention whether these "hot rods" were ICE or E-motor powered.

How would you power it? Would you use the (limited) regeneration? Would you create an audio system powered off of a dedicated power system?

The cell I am looking at is 3.2 VDC nominal @ 180 Ah. I am not knocking the intelligence of this forum, but should I be looking elsewhere?

What would you do?

at first thought... beacuse your running VDC already, if you need to bring the voltage down, just use a really big transformer or a few of them, go find some 1000watt microwave transformers, take out the 2nd coil and re-wrap it to bring it down to 12-15vdc or what ever you want your car audio to run at. assuming your not going for a HUGE system to conserve batt power, a single 1800w transformer should work.

EDIT.... if you didnt want to drop the voltage down if your going to run a 144vdc set up... you could just run 10 amps in series for 14.4v each LOL

Are you suggesting you can use a transformer to use 144VDC to 14.4 VDC?

I agree, there are an absurd amount of amplifiers that can function >> 14VDC. What I want (and am looking for) is a car amplifier than can perform under *any* high VDC using a multiple of 3.2 VDC (3.35 VDC max )180 Ah cell. I have the ability to minimize current draw at the expense of voltage. P=VI. 4000W= (196-144)i. I just want to minimize that "i" figure.

If you can use step down modules to get below 140v the Taramps High Voltage line would work fine.

I believe they also have a 300v amp with a min input of 100v.

I don't know the details on them.

Unless a Rep contacts me - everything I've read about said amps is from wiki. Power Output sweeps vs. input VDC(14/16/18/20/24/48/96/192)

Any suggestion anyone has made you have just replied with a condescending attitude.

If you are the supposed electrical engineer why are you asking us for help?

If you really are an electrical engineer you should be showing us.

4000 watts rms for say almost two hours of driving at 60 mph without a way to charge the Batts is not going to happen without a MASSIVE reserve plain and simple.

You want a stereo in this thing build something that's reasonable to use in the application.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

100% agree there

There are a heap of elec cars running stanard manual transmission with 30-40amp alt driven from tail shaft to supply the 12v system

In a side note to supply 4000rms continuous for 2hrs is just plane and simply stuiped you'll require

To make simple 14off xs d1600 16v batteries

Adding 675lbs to the car

Witch is a joke

What cells are you looking to use? Link? And if your running a bunch of 3.2v cells in series then if you wanna run a audio system just at a positive the the first battery, and a negetive to the 4th battery in the line to isolate the 4 cells you get 12.8v roughtly and that will be the power and ground for your system. I can draw a diagram if you need
