kirill007 Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 A solo X won't last at 4kw. It's a 5kW peak rating, and only 2.5kW RMS. Anything over 3-3.5kW will toast the subwoofer daily. And how many solo-xs have you toasted?Ive ran every size solo-x and havent had any problems. I ran the 18 daily on 6k+ rms for over a year, it handled it well. So.. You mean a 6kW amp? Not actually measured wattage... Toasted? I've never toasted one subwoofer. And no I haven't used the Solo X personally, but installed a few. How do you play your music? Full tilt for a few songs at a time? Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

The 18 has a 3.5 voice coil... I agree a stock 18 Solo X can't take a real 5k daily.

STEvil Posted April 6, 2015 Report Posted April 6, 2015 Bring tuning down to 28-30hz.. a 6-8" flared end might help as well. MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..." Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed.

And you haven't answered even answered half of my questions, and that's how you try to argue people, avoiding questions and reiterating the same things. I know your style of conversating, it always seems to end with you thinking you are right 100% of the time, even after you've been repeatedly proven wrong. So go ahead, tell everyone you system is amazing (like you love to do). (I never said I know a lot..) -End of offtopic talk.- Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
Guest Posted April 6, 2015 Report Posted April 6, 2015 when you upgraded amps you didnt tune them properly I question the subsonic first.

Interesting that you believe you have proven me wrong about my own system which you have had no hands on experience with that consisted of equipement you admit to having no real experience with. knowledge Posted April 6, 2015 Report Posted April 6, 2015 I had a solo x on a atomic 7k, was loud but sadly it didn't last long. One or two of the 4 joints holding the cone some how gets undone or at least my first one did out of the 2 I had. REFF'SMy linkEBAYhttp://feedback.ebay...ck&myworld=trueI love car audio so much because I will never be done. I can never win, and I will never get it finished or perfect. It always has me coming back for more, I can never get my fill of it, but I get what I need.
Vykintas Petrulis Posted April 6, 2015 Author Report Posted April 6, 2015 about the subsonic, that`s my main idea atm, raise tuning to around 36-37 herts, put subsonic at around 30 hertz and see how it will handle. i clamped it getting 4kw at 40hz, 3.6 at 34 hz (thats my peak hz) and around 3.4kw at 30hz. basicly, all is fine if not playing slowed songs, or no dropdowns below 30 herts. but, that excursion looks kinda scary still. sad part, i burned coil playing slowed song with 26 -5db dropdown good part, my coils was black long time ago so it was about time to fix it to be honest, i have no idea where to tune it with such power, box size, and port, since i made box when i had barely 1.5kw and such tune worked pretty nice in my wagon here u can see movement
