solo X18@4kw RMS box re-tune help

Hello,

so recently i upgraded my amps for some not childish power, doing 4kw rms easy atm, and need ideas how to rebuild/fix my 10 cubes ported box to handle power at low ends. box is tuned to ~34hz, 110sq port area. before i gave this sub around 2-3kw rms, at low ends it was getting maybe half of that only. now things kindy messy when sub getting 3.5kw at 30hz sine, 4kw at 42hz sine, reaching xmax at like 35-37hz`s. My last demo ended with a trip to the guy who will make new voice coils for me ;/ clipping isnt the deal here, as long as there`s no tones below 30hz, coils dont get so hot so fast, but few tones 22-25hz in song, they get hot and smell instantly. so my question, what i can make from box to make kicker handle power ? thinking of shrinking port area, tune would get lower, better handling at low ends, less excursion at mid 30`s, in theory...

P.S. last time i had chance to play around with termLAB, did a bit over 150 at 34hz :D

A solo X won't last at 4kw. It's a 5kW peak rating, and only 2.5kW RMS. Anything over 3-3.5kW will toast the subwoofer daily.

Thinking is the root of all problems...

And how many solo-xs have you toasted?

Ive ran every size solo-x and havent had any problems. I ran the 18 daily on 6k+ rms for over a year, it handled it well.

How do you think shrinking your port area is going to help you? Lowering your tuning may help though.

ETA: Shrinking your port area probably will help with thermal power handling, but at the cost of output, so its probably not what you want to do.

6k+ on a solox? Daily? That's a lot of power to run daily on a 3inch coil. Looks like I'm goin with kicker!

You do realize that all subs dont have the same cooling, dont you?

No shit. Just thought that much power daily on a kicker is impressive
