micker Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 Ok here's the question I can buy 1ft of ofc compaired to 3ft of mixed cca/tca So in laymans terms I can do 3 runs of run 4ga cable compaired to 1 run So the saving comes about when I run 2 of 4ga cables cca/tca v's a single 4ga ofc Pretty much I'm wiring up a zx700.5 and I have 2off 4ga out 2x 4ga in adapters And I'm wondering if power wise am I better for 30% less cost running 2x 4ga cca/tca wires v's 1 ofc The adapters I alread have so they owe me nothing just don't want to spend money where it's not needed I know if running single runs ofc creams cca/tca just needing to know if it's the same when 2v1
SIDE SHOW Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 pritty sure one run of 4 gauge will be enough for that amp, so spend the extra coin and get the best you can
Shenker Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 Go one run OFC in my opinion, worth the difference in time alone of messing around with that second run. -If its loud, fast, outrageous, or all of the above, chances are i'll think its awesome. -"No way he's OCD." -said none of the people that know me ever. 04' Suburban "Lucifer" A.K.A #Lucii (Under Construction) 4 10s on 4kW in 6cu net @~28hz /////Alpine Crescendo KnuKoncepts Optima SHCA Build Thread 92' JDM 325i "Stella" ~Going for sale to build a 350+hp E30~ Gutted pipes 96,000 OG KM's (59,000 mi) -System Removed- 1 10 on 1kW 89' Gen 3 Honda Prelude SI AWS "Odis" Bone Stock Possibly going to stance it

micker Posted April 10, 2015 Author Report Posted April 10, 2015 http://showtimeelectronics.com/shop/showtime-stca-1-blue30-30-foot-10-0-awg-gauge-blue-powerground-cablewire/ Slimar stuff to what I was looking at 50%copper50%alloy By the time I buy the battery connections I will walk away at the same price as ofc just in cable price doing 2 runs of cca/tca cable 32 ft of 4ga cca/tca with battery connectors and 14ft of 12ga speaker wire in a kit with 3 pairs of rca's is the excact same price as quality ofc 4ga 16ft That's what I'm comparing it to
SIDE SHOW Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 no need for two runs of 4 gauge, one run will do the job
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 Another thing to consider when choosing between copper and aluminum is that aluminium corrodes at a much faster rate than copper. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
micker Posted April 10, 2015 Author Report Posted April 10, 2015 Never thought of the alloy croding faster The cable I was looking at is oxygen free just not 100% coper I've seen a few tests where over 16ft the voltage drop is 2x that of coper I know kicker did a test but I also know there cable is oversized heaps The 4ga I was looking at is 1/4" 3/8" v's 7/32 3/8" of some other cables if that makes a differance I Normaly use the kicker 0g kit just I saw deal online with $10 upgrade for extra 16ft of 4ga or $40 extra for ofc
