Kinnonholt21 Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 So, I put a Fosgate P500x1bd and 2 p2d4-10s in a ported FoxBox in a friends 2012 crew cab Dodge Ram. He wanted to keep his stock Alpine head unit, so I installed an LOC to wire everything up. With that said. He loved his system but thought it would be louder. So he turned around and bought a P1000x1BD and it really doesn't sound any different. He is also complaining that he doesn't get a lot of the higher frequency bass which I told him is probably do to the way the box is tuned. My question is do yall think the LOC has something to do with the bass output, or is the box the limiting factor? Any info would be much appreciated.
_paralyzed_ Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Many factory systems lower the bass output as the volume is turned up to keep factory speakers from distorting. An audio control lc2i has a built in feature to compensate for this.
SIDE SHOW Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 most prob the box or the amp settings.. could even be the deck is crap. your friend may also be expecting too much from two tens
Kinnonholt21 Posted May 1, 2015 Author Report Posted May 1, 2015 The amp gains were set properly using Fosgate's built in CLEAN set up. The LOC is just a cheap PAC SNI-35 LOC. So maybe that is the issue. I've heard 10's much louder than his on much less.
775Tundra Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Cheap loc's do reduce potential. Lc2i is the way to go. 2003 Tahoe dc 7.5k dc level 5 15's (3) MMats 341's xs power batts lots of sky high cable dual alts(came off the sky-high gmc and don't know who made them) ipad in center console vu-din in center console all being ripped out and being sold
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 D'amore showed that the clean setup doesn't work. Loc's are garbage. Prefab boxes are crap. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
RainStryke Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Sounds like he needs to get a aftermarket headunit to start with.
MrBigs63' Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 I would also suggest aftermarket head unit. The only good line output converter is an actual processor. With that said though, the box still probably has a lot to do with it. I have quoted several customers for under seat boxes like they want, and instead of paying me to build one they go and buy a cheap one. I have never had a single customer that bought a pre fab say they were satisfied.
