You don't have to run coaxial speakers in the rear, but I do like having speakers in the rear doors personally, assuming its a 4 door car!

cause coaxial in the rear is easy and cheaper than components. you more than likely won't even notice them playing up front,but if you have passengers in the back ,it will allow them to hear the music better back there.

To save money possibly. Some people would rather focus on putting the nicer more expensive comps up front but still have something in the back. This makes sense to me because the front soundstage is more important than the rear soundstage IMO.
