Help me pick an amp! Blew up SAE-1000d

What amp would you guys recommend that has the best internals to stand up to low voltage(12-13). I've been looking into American Bass which I keep hearing aren't that efficient on low electrical as well as Incrimator Audio. Also a CT Sounds 1400 (formerly Audio Technix) and I've heard good things about B2 which is a pretty new company. I'd consider going with the SCV-1500 from sundown but they're a pretty penny and I feel like my Sundown SAE-1000d that just went up in flames/smoke just wasn't a very well built amp and am not sure what to get considering I want around 800rms @ 1 ohm and am not sure if "entry level" amps are built with the same quality as say a 5k amps. I'm open to about any brand I just want something that's going to last me a while and wont fry under low voltage. I've done countless hours of reading and can't decide.. Please help me out!

How did you blow the SAE? Those things put out their rated at low voltages, if anything thats what I would have recommended in this situation!

EDIT: I'm an idiot, I was thinking of the SCV series, it pays to read from time to time.

I'm just running one SA-12 @ 1 ohm but would like some headroom

I was running a C2 Audio Recon 1.6 at 0.5ohms on BONE stock electrical (like seriously bone stock, no big 3, not even upgraded alternator to battery cable, OEM battery FROM 2008!) and the volt meter on my dash hovered around 10 volts listing to decaf music on my two Sundown 15" Zv4's. Survived perfectly and would only go into protection if it dropped below 10 volts or if I clipped it real bad. They put up REALLY well with crappy electrical!

Recon 1.6 does 1642 watts certified 1ohm at 12v on the SMD AD-1 amp dyno, can be bought for $449 from TeamKustom and others. Not sure if 1600watts is too cookin for your SA-12 but you could run the sub at 4ohm on the Recon 2.4 and get 800 watts at 12v ($649, 2485 Watts 1 ohm AD-1 cert 12v). They are also just coming out with the Recon 1.0 which would do 1000watts at 1ohm (and Recon 3.5 too, does 1050 watts at 4 ohms 12v). Every model is strappable so if you get a second SA-12 you can link two Recon 1.0's or 1.6's together (or just run one at 0.5 ohms).

What does your electrical system consist of? I'm guessing it's not very strong if you cooked that sundown amp. Sundown makes some really good amps.

check your subs coil resistance, check your ground, and power just to make sure things are good

i have heard of amps going out and taking the speakers/subs with them

Wow, those are some stellar prices if they do claimed wattage! $269 msrp for the Q1-1200.2D and $429 for the Q1-2200.2!

Wonder why they don't show 12v ratings (or heck, 10v and 8v! lol) considering specs say good down to 8v! Freaky.

Why did your amp go up in smoke? I'm sure it didn't just decide to blow smoke one day. If it failed due to an issue you are having and you don't fix that issue, any amp you get is likely to end up the same way. Just trying to save you some money.
