soffhands Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 i use both birch more expensive mdf cheaper and just like Tritcum said mdf more messy then birch
Joe X Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 Im not understanding the "avoid mdf" thing.... this game was built on mdf and other than weight i feel the birch is just a fad... +1, unless weight is a factor spend your bucks elsewhere, a no brainer.
corona_jeff Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 Birch is also stronger......but I look at it like this. Mdf is heavier, and cheaper. Save money now, but pay more for gas over the long haul Birch is light and stronger. Pay more now, spend less on gas over long haul. However, if you plan to resin the box.....mdf all day. Soaks it up like a sponge, and personally it makes it stronger. Doing that with birch and it only soaks up in the first layer
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 There are other benefits besides weight in my opinion but I'm not looking to get into a debate so I'll just leave it at that. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
Popwarhomie Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 Sanded pine plywood. My wall is birch though. 2010 Focus coupe- 8 12" wall. 157.5@46hz 2016 Focus ST - SQ build.
