Alright, I have a video uploading. In the meantime, someone on the other forum brought up a great idea. I was going to have to find somewhere to put the light switch that I just cut out of the dash. So he suggested putting it to the right of the vent. SO I did some R&D on it. Check it out.

This is the pocket that I cut out where the vent is now, but to the right of it.

It was a little long because of the area where the steering wheel column goes. Then on the left, it's right up against the vent tab. So, I just trimmed it a bit.

It fits better. The switch itself will have to be trimmed down as well, but not too much. The left side of it has the grooves in it anyway, so that wasn't going to stay there.

I probably could also, cut out and move the vent more to the left, and probably buy another 1/4". But we'll see how this works out. I'll probably buy a back up switch mechanism too.

So I think it'll work one way or another.

Ok here's the video. It's not great, but you can definitely hear the sound. Let me know what you guys think.

I'm still thinking about shrinking the box down a bit. I can add mass to the interior kerfed area and that would shrink the volume down a bit. Although, as you'll see in the video, it doesn't seem like it's over extending at all.

You talkin about that tapping sound from the sub? Have u taken the sub out to examine it? Sounds like something is definitely loose or breaking.

Yes. That. I thought about that, but I thought I'd try the crossover setting go first. I'll see about pulling it tomorrow.

Ok so I have a little update on the enclosure. I just spoke with Andrew Bailey this morning a little bit about it. Apparently there's an issue with the v2.0 10's where the spider is too close to the basket or something like that. So any overpowering of the sub, like I have the 2000.1 on it and it's rated at 1500 rms, so I'm probably overpowering it, and it will over extend and thus cause the slapping I'm hearing.

So what are the fixes. Well, there's a v3.0 coming out that will fix the issue. But in the meantime, it needs back pressure apparently. So shrinking the enclosure size is one way, and another way is to close off the vent in the motor with a piece of foam. I'm going to experiment with that first because it's the easier of the two to do.

I'll report back tonight on it.

But this right here, the customer service and support, is one of the main reasons I switched to Ampere Audio. I can get Andrew at almost any time! Stand up dude, stand up company! I don't regret my decision at all!

That's good support right there. But what I don't understand is if it is a known problem (and btw, ur not overpowering that sub by much), what are they gonna do about current users such as yourself who own a v2?

They gonna let u trade it in? Sounds like they didn't do thorough testing on it before they released it. But regardless, get it fixed so u can be slappin' with no issues! lol

I'm not sure what he has planned, but he's working on it. He's pretty good with his customer service and taking care of us. It'll all work out.

You inspired me to go down and continue to add body filler to my truck. I dont feel like it but it needs to be done.

Ok so here we go. Took the sub out last night and re measured the enclosure.

Using a box that is 12 x 12 x 12 to give me a cubic foot for packing peanuts

That didn't quite fill it.

So, I measured another half a cube in the box.

and poured about half of that in.

Which filled it finally. So I'm at about 1.25 cu ft in the enclosure. I covered the port with a towel btw, so that the peanuts would stay in the main area itself.

Now, I didn't find any actual displacement specs for the sub, so I did a couple of quick measurements on it and got roughly 8" tall, by about 8-10" wide, the 10" is at the top.

So I came up with about .29 cubes and that didn't really sound right so I just said it's about .25. So I'm still at about 1 cu ft in the enclosure. After discussions yesterday, I decided a target of .8-.75 was where I wanted to be.

How was I going to do this? Take a look.

This was what it looks like this morning.

So tonight I'm going to throw the sub back in and hook it back up and see what it sounds like. More testing to come.
