andym85 Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 off topic but thats an awesome box!!! thanks! it came out WAY better than expected since this was my first time really trying to paint mdf for a nice finish...it isnt perfect and there are a few pits on top, but nobody will see that....i was really happy with it.... i likes me some audio stuff...
mbdblue Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 you dont need resin to get a shinny finish....just put a few coats of primer on it, and sand between coats. then a coat of paint, wet sand, coat of paint, wet sand, coat of paint, wet sand, coat of paint...and ur done....do it as many times as you want until you get your desired finish, and gradually increase the grit of sandpaper between steps...thats how i did this box below...i think we did like 2 or 3 coats of primer, and maybe 4 or 5 coats of paint... off topic but thats an awesome box!!! X2! I also agree with what he stated. coating it in resin is just gonna be an unnecessary extra step if you dont need to shape it.
