Broke_Audio_Addict
Another option would be to buy a component set and put the mid's in the doors and tweeter's in the dash. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. Guest
how much depth do you have to work with?
Broke_Audio_Addict
Aftermarket 4x6's don't like to fit in these dash's if you go 4x6 you're going to have trim some stuff on the driver side at the very least. Easiest thing to do is components with the mid in the door and tweeter in the dash honestly. reedal
I put 5 1/4s in my dash since 4x6 speakers are limited in selection, mines a blazer but both have the same dash. It actually wasn't very hard and was my first fiberglass project. I have never did any fiber glass work before if I went this route i would need a step by step list of how to do it There's plenty of videos on YouTube and this forum and probably others too. Mark from C.A.F. has a bunch, find his page on YouTube and go through his videos. Different vehicle(s) than yours, but same concept nonetheless. That's how I learned. firebirdude
Mounting depth is tough on the old Chevys. Even the 2 3/16" figure mentioned above sounds like a stretch to me. I've put the Pioneer G series in several and they fit, but it's close. They're cheap and effective. Mainly for customers just wanting something that's not blown. Nothing something I'd recommend to a friend or anything. ZERO chance you're going to fit those Infinity Kappas in without some modifications though. Obviously Sphinx's post would work, if you're up to the task. Option B would be to cut away the A/C ducting that limits your depth and then use duct tape to close up the duct so the air still flows through. It works fine and I've done it to give clearance for double-din head units. Very rare though. Should go without saying, but make sure the HPF is set on them. Whatever you put there isn't going to take sub-100Hz very well.
