HO alt or second battery

so i was planning on getting a 240 amp mechman alt installed but today i was talking to someone at a shop thats done alot with car audio, and he was telling me i would be better off just getting a second battery in the trunk because its just a 2100 watt system. with the shorter run amd capacity of the battery, i would be able to run my system better than getting a new alt because the power would still be coming like 8 feet to the front. if i would get a battery instead it would be an xs power xp battery, so which one should i do?

Something needs to charge those batteries.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

9 times out of 10 I'd say your dollar would be better spent on an alternator

Alternator, I cannot stress enough the importance of a strong charging systems. Most people look at voltage.... Amperage is what you need and batteries alone will not fix all of your issues. As stated above something needs to charge your batteries. Also remember an alt also runs the car too, so if your stock is say 100 amp subtract at least 40 for the car. A 2100 amp is wanting around 200 amps to be efficient as an example.

Alternator. I'd rather have a cheap agm in the back and a good alt over a stock alternator and a good battery in the back.
