Joe Kralovetz Posted July 13, 2015 Report Posted July 13, 2015 I currently have a 2416.1d hifonics powering a Sundown audio x12, This amp I have tuned to push out the subs rms 1250 watts. When I first hooked it up I had the amp set a lot higher and it was pushing the sub past its handling point and I smelt my sub ( oops lol ) so I turned it down. My question is. I am ordering another Sundown X12 what are your guys opinions as to if the amp could handle powering 2 x12s or not. I have the big 3 ran, and 2 xs power D3400 batteries, one under the hood and one in the trunk with all 0 gauge wiring all around. So any feedback as to if you guys think this amp can power two x12s or do you think I'll need to get another 2416.1d hifonics amp? ( I have the back of my amp taken off and installed two fans behind the amp to keep it cool, before doing this the amp didn't really get hot at all, but we have some hot days a head so figured i'd need them later cause of it. I listen to different types of music, but lately I been stuck on mostly Decaf Thanks in advance! P.S this amp was tested and puts out about 2100 watts before clipping. Broke_Audio_Addict Posted July 13, 2015 Report Posted July 13, 2015 There should be no problems as long as you set everything properly and them amp is kept at a reasonable temp. This is assuming you will be running a ohm load that the amp is stable at. Clipping doesn't kill amps, heat does. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

I'll drop it down to 1 ohm when I get the 2nd sub, and im hoping the 2 fans I installed keep it cool enough if they don't, I was thinking of running a all-in-one closed loop liquid cooler that I took out of my desktop that I upgraded and mod it to fit the guts of my amp. Joe Kralovetz Posted July 13, 2015 Author Report Posted July 13, 2015 This is how I did the wiring on this single sub cause the wire was to thick to criss cross them into the holes so I ran leads off and connected them with a nut and bolt where I drilled holes in the port.
