nocturnalrites101 Posted July 30, 2015 Report Posted July 30, 2015 can anyone recommend a good 2 way active crossover
reedal Posted July 30, 2015 Report Posted July 30, 2015 Yes. The high and low pass filters on your amplifier(s) or a head unit that allows you to set those points on there. nocturnalrites101 Posted July 31, 2015 Author Report Posted July 31, 2015 maybe i should go alttle deeper into what im doing. im doing three way components in the front that are Semi passive. (gladen aero 3 ways) Meaning the the Tweeter and the midrange are on a physical crossover. However the Midbass is not . Im assuming so you can feed it more power?not sure so im doing two full range amps. sugguestions

Broke_Audio_Addict Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 So just the midbass is what you're concerned about? You could actually get away with less power when running active, Using a passive crossover waste's lots of power. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

reedal Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 My answer still stands. There's also DSP's. I think kicker and maybe audio control sell active crossovers. Probably other companies too. But that's needless extra equipment and possible signal noise and distortion. Active capable head unit, amplifiers with built in high and low pass filters, and DSP's are the way to go for active. If you want to run active, you have to not use the crossover that comes with component sets, or the capacitor that is sometimes attached to tweeters to prevent low frequencies. The tweet and mid range are passively crossed over, while your mid bass are actively crossed via the filters on your amplifier being used to power them.
