Dual Battery problem

Recommended Posts

I have a Singer 240A alt and an XS power D1200 up front and a XS power D5100 in the rear. I have a run of Sky High 1/0 to the rear for positive (250A fuses on both ends) and a solid ground on the batteries with the same wire. Big Three done.

The issue is that in the front I have 14.8V but when I check the rear its 12.1V. Then when I disconnect the rear battery the wires to the rear are at 14.8V again.

Any thoughts on what I screwed up?

No... I assume that grounding to the car is where my issue is then?

Sounds like it. Fix that first before looking into other things.

"Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand.

so you need to have a positive run and a negative run from front to back ? you cant just ground the rear batt to the chasis of the vehicle?

In most cases you can "I have never needed a additional ground path" but if you have an issue like the OP then the next trouble shooting step is to check / redo grounds and then run a dedicated ground path
