mxman38 Posted November 6, 2015 Report Posted November 6, 2015 First off this isn't a this vs that thread... however i just ordered a fully loaded 15" BL and built a 4.5 cube box with (2) 6" aeros around 35 hz. I have stock electrical (they wont make a H/O alt for my car) with all OFC wiring and 190 a/h northstar battery. I just got a twisted sounds 1.3k and was going to run it at 1 ohm... I am having second thoughts on if i should have spent the extra coin on an FI Team and underpower it..... I can always add another amp and strap the 2.. or sell it and get a 3500 if i feel my electrical can handle it or find someone to build me an alt. So my question... It makes 1800wrms unofficially...(not sure what that means). but lets say its at 1200wrms with voltage drop/rise etc. Will the BL be louder overpowered or the Team underpowered? I don't know the physics behind motor strength etc. and i am unsure if i will be able to really push the team depending on my electrical.
gckless Posted November 6, 2015 Report Posted November 6, 2015 You competing? If not, doubt you will notice one way or the other. But the BL should have more piston movement. "Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand. onebadmonte Posted November 6, 2015 Report Posted November 6, 2015 Stick with the bl. I ran a fi team 15 off a orion 3700.1 then switch to a DSS ethos 15 and got louder. :/ The fi team 15 needs more like 6K + to really start to shine. At that point other subs will cook and not keep up. Good luck. Warhorse vs A Pair of SMDeez build Olds Cutlass Cierra IB build 2 Fi IB3 18s
Triticum Agricolam Posted November 6, 2015 Report Posted November 6, 2015 Typically, higher RMS rated subs are less efficient due to higher moving mass. So, like others have said, you will probably get louder on the BL with the power you have.
