old east coast rap the real rap was nothing like the rap we had here on the west coast.. here was more like gangster rap that had to do with killing and gang banging.. east coast rap was on the radio west coast rap was banned and the lyrics had to be changed so it can make it on the radio.

Explain too short then?

too short is from the west coast bay area.. all he raps about is is hoes and pimps

again nothing but profanity that is banned on the radio.. east coast rap was cleaner

Lots of similar west coast rap too, it's not all just gangster rap.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

I loved east coast rap growing up because of how descriptive they were. I liked how they rapped movies and shit. I liked some west coast (mainly the hip groups like Souls of mischief and Pharcyde) but they do talk a lot of gangster shit that really only the west coast can get down with. Plus, Chicago had a lot of gangster rap I was listening to and since I knew the scene it was more for me than west coast. Down south in the 90's reminded me a lot of Chicago/midwest rap style, just slower. Mainly in the 90's it was Chicago/Midwest and east coast gangster rap for me.
