Bump4life
this is beautiful man. great work! i have a question, i saw on instagram, you had a home made card board box curing oven. what did you do to make that? and also more importantly, what device is that you have that measures temperature and humidity? gckless
Nice work all around for sure. Those cabinets are beautiful. Is that veneer, or what type of wood? Triticum Agricolam
I'd been wanting to build a Tuba HT since I first build my TLAHs, measuring like crazy in my apartment to see how I could fit it, even thought about the low profile version or the Table Tuba, but on someone else's dime I'll go as big as possible! At the moment working on a Decware Housewrecker for myself, it's an interesting bandpass design for 1-4 15s. I'm only going to be using a single Dayton Series II 15 (fs 15.5hz!!!!) but I would love to stuff one with 4 high powered 15s for someone crazy enough, it'd probably be enough output for a small bar or club, just need to find the right lunatic that wants one in their house! The next design at the top of my want-to-build list is the Lilwrecker tapped horn from Lil Mike on AVS forums. I think it's tuned for 17hz, bring on the pipe organ! That's awesome, how does that big THT sound? I built a 15" wide one, but I'd love to hear how a full width model would sound. I too would like to build a Lilwrecker some day. I've got an Alpine SWS-15D2 just sitting around for the project. The big cost the the wood though. Actually the biggest problem with building a Lilwrecker is were to put it when you are done! I've built a PicoWrecker, which is another of Lil Mike's designs. Its basically a shrunk down LilWrecker, I was really happy with its performance. The Decware Housewrecker is an interesting design. Looks to be a parallel-tuned bandpass box, which you don't see a lot of. Hopefully it works out for you, my experience with DecWare designs hasn't been very positive. bigsausagepizza
this is beautiful man. great work! i have a question, i saw on instagram, you had a home made card board box curing oven. what did you do to make that? and also more importantly, what device is that you have that measures temperature and humidity? It was really simple actually, I used 2 large cardboard boxes, leaving one end on each untaped so I could sleeve them inside each other. For heat I used a shop light with 2 60w incandescent bulbs. I cut a flap in the side so I could check on everything. Used a fleece blanket thrown overtop for more insulation. The thermometer is a simple thermometer/hygrometer that I used for some indoor gardening in the past, you should be able to get something similar at any home depot or garden center for $10. With 2 60w bulbs I could easily maintain 130F, which really sped up the curing of the polyurethane, with a larger box and more bulbs I bet you could get much higher temps. 2008 Subaru WRX STI K&N Typhoon Intake Invidia Polished Stainless 3" turbo back with cat Cobb Accessport Dyno tune from Kaizen Tuning 320awhp 330ft-lb awtq MTX 421D Sub amp American Bass SQ900 Highs/Mids amp Sundown Audio SD-2 10 D4 JL Audio XR653-CS 3-way Components 3sixty.2 Second Skin Damplifier Pro Custom fiberglass wheel well enclosure Transmission Line quasi-floor enclosure http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/forum/13-member-rides-builds-show-off-your-whip-show-off-your-system/ Bill Fitzmaurice TLAH line-array hifi towers 9 Goldwood 4" mids (each) 12 Goldwood 1/2" tweeters (each) NAD 1020 Preamp MiniDSP 2x4 Balanced processor Thorens TD166mkII Turntable Hafler DH-200 Amplifier http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/192638-line-array-hifi-tower-build/ https://www.facebook.com/HolyMountainGlass

On the towers I used solid 3/4" African ribbon stripe Sapele, for the sub it is a veneer of the same species. Really beautiful wood, but about $10/bdft for solid and $70 for a 4x8 of veneer. 2008 Subaru WRX STI K&N Typhoon Intake Invidia Polished Stainless 3" turbo back with cat Cobb Accessport Dyno tune from Kaizen Tuning 320awhp 330ft-lb awtq MTX 421D Sub amp American Bass SQ900 Highs/Mids amp Sundown Audio SD-2 10 D4 JL Audio XR653-CS 3-way Components 3sixty.2 Second Skin Damplifier Pro Custom fiberglass wheel well enclosure Transmission Line quasi-floor enclosure http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/forum/13-member-rides-builds-show-off-your-whip-show-off-your-system/ Bill Fitzmaurice TLAH line-array hifi towers 9 Goldwood 4" mids (each) 12 Goldwood 1/2" tweeters (each) NAD 1020 Preamp MiniDSP 2x4 Balanced processor Thorens TD166mkII Turntable Hafler DH-200 Amplifier http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/192638-line-array-hifi-tower-build/ https://www.facebook.com/HolyMountainGlass

Mine was only 22" internal so mid-size as THT's go. Serious output down to 20hz, when I played some decaf @24hz I got involuntary guffaws from everyone in the room. I've got the housewrecker running, still need to seal up a few areas a bit more, but I've only gotten to test it on a leapai 2020a (10w max on a good day) I was using for my gf's bookshelf monitors. Thing has some serious output, and with the sub in the lowest tuning position I think it'll be audible at 20hz on realistic power. I have a bunch more stove pipe too, so I'll probably make a few ports that are even longer and see how it does. I thought I'd give this design a try because of how many different configurations there are for it, so I can do lots of experimentation with woofer placement/quantity and change out the ports too if I feel like it. I really wanted to do a lilwrecker, but 4 sheets of plywood definitely adds up. I'm hoping to use it to replace my tv stand (which currently has my sub under it) so I got some red oak veneer plywood that I'll stain to match my turntable. 2008 Subaru WRX STI K&N Typhoon Intake Invidia Polished Stainless 3" turbo back with cat Cobb Accessport Dyno tune from Kaizen Tuning 320awhp 330ft-lb awtq MTX 421D Sub amp American Bass SQ900 Highs/Mids amp Sundown Audio SD-2 10 D4 JL Audio XR653-CS 3-way Components 3sixty.2 Second Skin Damplifier Pro Custom fiberglass wheel well enclosure Transmission Line quasi-floor enclosure http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/forum/13-member-rides-builds-show-off-your-whip-show-off-your-system/ Bill Fitzmaurice TLAH line-array hifi towers 9 Goldwood 4" mids (each) 12 Goldwood 1/2" tweeters (each) NAD 1020 Preamp MiniDSP 2x4 Balanced processor Thorens TD166mkII Turntable Hafler DH-200 Amplifier http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/192638-line-array-hifi-tower-build/ https://www.facebook.com/HolyMountainGlass
bigsausagepizza
this Housewrecker is an awesome design! I wonder if it'd be possible to mimic it with 4 8s? Obviously not enough to levitate a rug, but a better enclosure than most? It would definitely be possible, people have scaled it up for 18s and down for 12s, so you could definitely do it with 8s if you really wanted. 2008 Subaru WRX STI K&N Typhoon Intake Invidia Polished Stainless 3" turbo back with cat Cobb Accessport Dyno tune from Kaizen Tuning 320awhp 330ft-lb awtq MTX 421D Sub amp American Bass SQ900 Highs/Mids amp Sundown Audio SD-2 10 D4 JL Audio XR653-CS 3-way Components 3sixty.2 Second Skin Damplifier Pro Custom fiberglass wheel well enclosure Transmission Line quasi-floor enclosure http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/forum/13-member-rides-builds-show-off-your-whip-show-off-your-system/ Bill Fitzmaurice TLAH line-array hifi towers 9 Goldwood 4" mids (each) 12 Goldwood 1/2" tweeters (each) NAD 1020 Preamp MiniDSP 2x4 Balanced processor Thorens TD166mkII Turntable Hafler DH-200 Amplifier http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/192638-line-array-hifi-tower-build/ https://www.facebook.com/HolyMountainGlass

It would definitely be possible, people have scaled it up for 18s and down for 12s, so you could definitely do it with 8s if you really wanted. any idea on how to do that? I'm not certain, but I'll give it a shot. A 15 has ~ 56pi cone area and an 8 has 16pi. 56/16=3.5, so I would guess you need to scale the volume down by 3.5x. So you'd be looking for a net internal volume ~2.4 cu ft. The middle chamber would be about 0.73 cu ft and the outer chambers ~0.835 cu ft. The tuning and port size you'd have to figure out, but that would be fun to mess with anyway if you had some pvc or cardboard tubing. I bet some other guys on here would be able to help you with the tuning, I just don't have the time right now. I don't want to give you exact dimensions since this is a copywrited design, but if you want to buy the plans I bet Steve Deckert himself would help you scale it if you asked nicely, seemed like a nice guy when I was emailing him. 2008 Subaru WRX STI K&N Typhoon Intake Invidia Polished Stainless 3" turbo back with cat Cobb Accessport Dyno tune from Kaizen Tuning 320awhp 330ft-lb awtq MTX 421D Sub amp American Bass SQ900 Highs/Mids amp Sundown Audio SD-2 10 D4 JL Audio XR653-CS 3-way Components 3sixty.2 Second Skin Damplifier Pro Custom fiberglass wheel well enclosure Transmission Line quasi-floor enclosure http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/forum/13-member-rides-builds-show-off-your-whip-show-off-your-system/ Bill Fitzmaurice TLAH line-array hifi towers 9 Goldwood 4" mids (each) 12 Goldwood 1/2" tweeters (each) NAD 1020 Preamp MiniDSP 2x4 Balanced processor Thorens TD166mkII Turntable Hafler DH-200 Amplifier http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/192638-line-array-hifi-tower-build/ https://www.facebook.com/HolyMountainGlass
