batteries vs alt

Thanks for the help guys. I'll put the alternator in and see what it does. Still debating on staying sealed or going ported... I know everyone's gonna say ported for obvious db reasons, but my sealed box hits great down to 28 hz and is still punchy enough for rock. Not to mention I would no longer have a trunk and I need what little space I have for my work tools as this is my commuter

what is the point of people using a crap load of batteries?

People running amplifiers that are much higher than the fuse rating of there amps, running car audio with the car off, and stereo competitions are at idle where amperage is lower on alternators

Singer said he's bypassing the eld and my new voltage will be 14.8 consistently. I clamped my amp at the last show at 1150 watts. It's rated at 2500 rms at 1 ohm. Let's see what I can gain when the amp can put out full power! Can't wait

My Singer 275A on my Honda does 14.8 (lowest I've seen it go is 14.5). I run about the same wattage as you do with a single battery under the hood (XS D3400) and my voltage is fine during load

NSPL is no rev on non musical classes.

Im still trying to decipher this too:

"People running amplifiers that are much higher than the fuse rating of there amps."

Im sure Alt should be in there somewhere ???

CURRENT SYSTEM:

    2. Isolated DC Power 270 SP - Charging @ 16.8v
  • Batteries: (2) XS D1400s
  • Power Cable: Double Runs of 1/0 KNU Kolossus Fleks
  • Headunit: 80-PRS
  • Sub Amp: DC 5.0k
  • Subwoofers: 2 RE MT 15s /PSI dual .7ohm recones
  • Subwoofer Enclosure: 9.1cubes @ 32hz - brutal.
  • Mids & Highs Amp: CT125.4
  • Active Components:
    • Mids RE XXX 6.5c

The only two shows i've ever been too are no rev (I have heard of one's where you can but I'm not sure if its the norm).

Yeah I butchered the quote (mean't to say people running amplifiers that have fuse ratings way higher than the alternators ratings). DC and Singer both told me to get something that can output higher than the fuses of the amplifiers to avoid a battery bank (battery banks I see are crazy wattage on a single aftermarket alt)

I'm just gonna throw this in there too. Sealed will take a lot more juice from the amp to really get those subs going how most people want. With a smaller box than specs require, power handling will really suffer. I also made that mistake with what I thought to be the perfect sealed cubed box and it was just a bit too small (didn't calculate sub displacement). Switched out to a bigger box and BAM, mad low bass, amp could push it way easier, voltage was better etc, was like night and day.

Make sure the big 3 is proper as well, good crimped grounds, nothing bare or showing etc.

Lastly, everyone wants mad bass so they crank it up, bass up, gain up, and that's where the voltage can go from fine to dirty power instantly.

This may or may not be the case, but dropping that much voltage could be a combo of these and other factors.
