SHCA big 3

Was looking a sky high big 3 kits earlier and saw that they had an option to add a fuse to the kit. Im assuming its to fuse the alt hot to bat hot. Is it necessary to fuse that run?

people will say yes and no. I say yes for a couple of reasons.

1. All of my cars I ever did the big 3 in had a fuse from the factory between the alt and battery

2. Tony C (aka Snafu), one of the smartest people alive when it comes to 12v electronics in the car says you need to fuse it.

those are both good enough reasons for me.

Thanks for the input.

Any positive run in your car should be fused. Even the tiny wires. People often don't do the alt run because they don't know, or they do know and accept the risk of fire because the run is generally very short, which is a smaller chance to short to something.

"Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand.
