OK then that makes me wonder. Would a 6.5 high in the door sound better than an 8 low in the door? I could probably do both. I have seen kick panels with midst and tweets in them and can't imagine that would sound good. I have seen SQ builds with pods in top of the dash and can understand that.

That depends on the driver, if it's better on or off axis in your situation.

Thinking is the root of all problems...

Would the MDT30 work better in the door or in the dash?
Also I saw the Vifas you posted the link up for. The 6.5 says 40WRMS and the 8 says 80WRMS. Is this all they can take or is there something else I'm missing?

these are not car drivers that tend to bullshit people out of their money, like I said I ran 2400 watts rms to a pair of them and they are still on the road after 5 years of playing.

the crossovers do soak up some power. I stress tested two of these vifa 6" drivers along with one tweeter to see if they would make good tower speakers in a boat. I ran a us amps 300x2 bridged at 4 ohms so roughly 600 watts was going to the speaker, I played music full tilt with no audible distortion for 38 minutes, thats how long it took for the us amps to shut off do to heat, all 3 drivers handled the abuse, Its not likely you will ever blow thm unless you distort them. I would put the morels in the dash if you could, mine happen to be in my doors buts that just because I was having real estate issues.

to be perfectly honest I would not run less than 600 to the pair do to the threat of being under powered, just my opinion.

Wow that is awesome. Just trying to get my ducks in a row, what would the approximate cost of the crossover parts be?

i will take a pic of a schematic and you can buy the parts online, I am guessing the parts are going to bee roughly 130-150, the filters are 3rd order with zobel networks incorporated to keep the impedenace somewhat constant, that being said the xovers have a few more parts than a standard car crossover.

I would buy solen caps, 20 watt resistors, and partsexpress brand coils. you can buy better parts for sure but you are going to quickly exceeding 200+

dollars
