Went cheap .. well free with 3 layers of peel and seal on outside door skin from t and rear . 3 layers on the mount panel , also the rear panel. I'll step up for some good stuff for the roof . It is my understanding that the Batteries are for when the bass first hits it causes a spike in amperage that the regulator in the alt cant react quick enough to. The batteries Keep the voltage up long enough until the alt kicks in. This all happens in a fraction of a second which is why some people run banks of caps because they react faster than batteries. Caps IMHO get a bad rap for killing alts because they let you keep your alt at max output when otherwise you would have turned it down a little. When your Volt needle bounces, you turn it down a little i hope? When the voltage goes down the amperage must go up to maintain power and can kill an amp. What do you feel it is lacking? If you want it louder is one direction, or maybe staging and imaging are next? At some point you might choose SPL over everything else or that sound quality has priority. I have seen the Zapco DSP but it is expensive. I am stuck in the middle somewhere (loud and clean) as are most people. The ultimate goal is of course the highest SQ system that is also the higest SPL system but nobody has seen that yet. By the way i love that sub amp. I used to have one until it started making a funny noise.
