Bayuk89 Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 I dont have an amp dyno but i heard another way to get a general idea how much ur amp is putting out is to use an amp clamp on A/C volts and put that around the positive side of ur sub wires then use ur DMM on A/C volts and hook them up along with ur sub wire input. Play test tones at 30-60 hz at max clean volume and find which hz ur amp puts out the most power. Times the volts by amps and thats roughtly what ur amp is putting out in watts form. Is this accurate or did i miss something ?

But expect an amp dyno to read 10-20% less than clamped numbers. I figured i would ask more knowledgable people on how accurate it is, thank you what do u guys think about the steve meade AMM 1 ? Its the hand held amp dyno, seems to be the same concept as using the ac amp clamp and ac volt meter......

I don't use it a ton, but when I do it tells me info that there is no other way to get for a reasonable price. I won't be getting rid of it any time soon. Its probably not a tool that going to be worth the money for everyone, but if you like to tweak with things and experiment a lot, its very useful. No it measures more like the amp dyno. except I think it reads it with the amp connected to your cars power supply and your speakers so instead of telling you what the amps can do, it's telling you what exactly is happening in your car.
