I always thought that if your box is atleast the same distance from the back doors or whatever, that that would be fine.

But your saying that is increasing the port... so if I have 4 four inch ports just say about 4 to 5 inches away from the back, so would thatincrease port length even though i don't have a slot port like the other guy

SPL2K...just from reading some topics you've posted on, you have a LOT of tidbit info that a lot of people wouldnt know. like...i knew a basic rule of thumb about the distance, but i had no idea it'd somewhat lower the tuning on the box. just think it's pretty cool.

ok...carry on :)

yes. You are explaining it right and i understand. If your port opening is 6" tall (regardless of depth and length) and the edge of it is 6" from your tailgate or back of your car then the area between the tailgate and the back of the box becomes an extension of the port which will tune your enclosure much lower.

example....

if your port is 20" long and the box is 18" tall then you port is now actually 38" long

I completely understand that and it's 1:10 A.M.

this usually occurs with slots ports running along the bottom, all the way across of the box facing the rear of the car

in ur case it likely wouldnt be as noticable, but anytime you limit the air/slow it down u lower the tuning slightly
