Robert North Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 Setup: 2 alternators & 2 batteries -checked voltage readings. The same. Audio: 3 amps; 2 running the doors anf 1 on the subs. -both amps running mids and highs show 14.1-14.2 -sub amp shows 13.89 They are grounded to the same spot. I have bigger wire for the sub amp just havent upgraded just yet. All amps have 4ga. Upgrading sub amp to 1ga. Alternator whine (not real noticeable), turning volume to 0 hear a low pop. Any help or suggestuons would be great.

Jake Miles Mckeehan Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 What you could do if you have rca leads is take some trigger wire (or any similar type of wire) and ground it with the rca around the ring. that might help, but what do i know.
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 Check your RCA routing to make sure it is not near your power runs. Unplug RCAs from head unit to see if whine persists. Twisted pair RCAs are not as good as coaxial RCAs for noise rejection. Unplug RCAs from amps to test too. Pops when you turn volume to zero? Does it pop with any other buttons? I had a bad head unit that would pop even with the mute button. I returned it and got something different. Some Head units have an internal fuse on the RCA shield that can blow. CleanSierra Posted February 7, 2016 Report Posted February 7, 2016 Even the cheapest RCAs nowadays, can be run on TOP of power runs without the slightest noise. My bet is an insufficient ground. Unplug your sub amp and see if it goes away. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

Robert North Posted February 10, 2016 Author Report Posted February 10, 2016 Ok. Solve the problem. I replaced all my battery terminals up front. Cleaned the grounds. All the noise is gone. Thanx.
