Upgrading my system

Recommended Posts

I want to upgrade my system. I have it narrowed down to a pair of 12" rockford r2sD4-12 shallow mount 250watt RMS subs or a single 15" sundown audio E-15D2 400 RMS Watts. With the Rockford's I will use my mb-quart 500.2 and if I go with the sundown I'll get a sundown sae-600 amp. So what do u guys think.

It's still a vs thread man. Any comparison of two or more different brands (brand A vs brand B, should I get this one or this one, which one has better performance, etc.) is a versus thread. Which in violation of forum rules. A mod will lock this thread up as well I'm sure.

Shallow mount subs almost always compromise performance to be shallow, I'd suggest you avoid them unless you absolutely have to use them.

Post your max dims for a box, that way one can figure if you can do anything else than shallow and base your sub selection on the actual space you have available.

I'm going with the 15" sundown, now for a box. I'm looking at a pre made 3\4 mdf 3.335 cubbed box that's vented and tuned to 30hz and a port volume of .34. If anybody had any ideas on what type of box would sound better let me know. It's going in a 2004 f-150 super cab.I would go as far as taking one of my back seats out.that would give me 3 1\2 ft long 2ft wide area and I could go up as much as 4ft

I'm sure the Sundown 15" will serve you well, I'd recommend against getting a prefab box though. You will almost certainly get better performance by building your own box, or having someone build one for you.
