dbackfan12
I was looking to add some more reserve to my build and was able to get a deal on a northstar NSB170 (thing weighs like 125 lbs) and I was going to use it with my XS power XP 3000 and D3400 under the hood on a singer 370 amp alternator. Im just wondering if I am going to run into problems by mixing different sized batteries? Should I have used another XP3000 instead?

ShadeTreeMechanic
Different sized batteries are a problem in deep discharge situations like electric cars and solar banks and demos with engine off. As long as you play with the vehicle running and your voltage is up, you should be ok. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
dbackfan12
Well that is good to hear. I went to a shop a few weeks back and one of the guys there told me that using different batteries would result with messing up my alternator. I kinda thought he was full of it and I guess he was. MADVIBES
If you ever want to fully charge each battery you would have to disconnect them from one another to get a complete charge. You can mix them all day long but you wont get some in the group to fully 100 percent charge, I have a dual bank charger for his purpose. but I am lazy and only do the seperate charges on the night before big comps.
