PaCiFiKbAllA Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 My EMF Banhammer 12 is in 4 cubes tuned to 29hz. And it's a single 12. Hits them lows like crazy. I think for my application, 29hz is definitely the sweet spot. 1 x Fi Audio SP4 V2 12" D2 Fully Loaded 1 x Wolfram W-4500.1 2 x XS Power D5100's 250A Singer Alternator 2.67 Cubes @ 29hz
Triticum Agricolam Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 For a subwoofer stage tuned to 25hz you will most likely need a woofer stage to play 40hz to 150hz. Then mid bass 150hz and up. I don't think your current mid bass will be able to play low enough to fill the gap especially if the sub stage is ported causing a peak at such a low tuning frequency. I have done a similar setup with two 15s and four 10s but not tuned that low. No you don't. From 25 Hz to 40 Hz isn't even one octave. Just about any car audio subwoofer should play up to 80 - 100 Hz just fine. Most will play much higher than that but once you get above 80 Hz you can start to localize the sound and no one wants their bass to sound like its coming from behind them. If someone's subwoofer output is falling off at 40 Hz its probably because they have a giant peak in output around tuning. This is one of the reasons tuning lower can help (along with careful sub selection and box design). Lower tunings generally have smoothing frequency response, assuming all else is equal. shayzonblue Posted April 12, 2016 Author Report Posted April 12, 2016 OK.thanks. I'll have to re design the box
shayzonblue Posted April 12, 2016 Author Report Posted April 12, 2016 I tuned my box that lows so I can get a more flat response from all of the bass notes within that range my cabins resonant frequencies actually around 34 hz so I wanted to bring the overall bandwidth down to a lower tuned frequency thereby allowing me to play a lot of my drum and bass music and have all of my bass notes fall within a specific tone if that's correct if I'm saying that correctly
shayzonblue Posted April 12, 2016 Author Report Posted April 12, 2016 my Port length is about 36 inches the height of the port opening is 3 inches and the width of the port is 14 inches
shayzonblue Posted April 12, 2016 Author Report Posted April 12, 2016 oh did I also forgot to mention that I listen to a lot of old bass mechanic and a lot of that new psyph Morrison
Allen Lancos Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 oh did I also forgot to mention that I listen to a lot of old bass mechanic and a lot of that new psyph Morrison Yes this was not mentioned, my opinion was based only on the music selection you listed. Even then I still say mid 20's is too low I'll do body filler all day every day, but this reinforced, fortified fucking kitty hair can kiss my balls.
Allen Lancos Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 Even then with your budget and preference on low tuning why not go up to a 15" instead of a single 12? Just wondering I'll do body filler all day every day, but this reinforced, fortified fucking kitty hair can kiss my balls.

Even then I still say mid 20's is too low He's trying to achieve a flat response which is usually going to require. A low tuning, there is nothing wrong with where he wants to tune the enclosure too. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
