At about 8:30 a.m. the Port Arthur Police Department responded to the wreck in the 3700 block of State Highway 82 on Pleasure Island according to a release from the Port Arthur Police Department. Witnesses told police that a Ford Mustang was traveling westbound and appeared to lose control and cross into the eastbound lanes according to the release. The Mustang was struck by a Ford truck. The driver of the Mustang, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of the family, was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 8 Justice of the Peace Tom Gillam III. One other person was transported via ambulance according to Acadian Ambulance.
