solar0987
Head unit pushes 5v it says, going to test tomorrow. Either way I wanted to get a eq, but it says 8v out. Amp says in stats it can only handle 6volt in. will i mess something up using that crossover?

solar0987
What HU, EQ, and amp? Some EQs have an adjustable input. The head unit is a ppi double din dvd, eq will be the clarion EQS746, amp so far is a ppi black ice 2600.1 it might be changing for a 3500 watt dc really soon. Im more wondering about the output from the eq to the amp. if its only rated for say 6volt input if i slam 8 into it will it hurt it?

reedal
If your amp can only take as high as 6v input on the RCAs, and you input more than 6v, then you will be clipping the signal. So 8v=bad Ty, thats the answer i was looking for, i will have to put a output adjuster on it.
Broke_Audio_Addict
Get a better head unit, one that has a decent eq. The more stuff you add to the chain the more likely you are to introduce distortion. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
