OK smd world I'm saving up for an upgrade on my buick. I'm moving my audio legion 3500 3 xs power 3400 Batts and fi bl subs to my truck and redoing my set up in the car. I want to get either the sp4 12's or the DC xl 12's. I gotta hit up singer for a quote for an alt since mechman don't make one for my vehicle. What all would I need for that set up? Amp I will be using is gona be the bC 5500 or the sundown 6k. How many Batts and size alt would I need ? I'm obviously gona need 2 runs from alt to Batts in the back with solid grounds just don't know what kind of alt or batts I need.

Ummm... Lets see...

6k rms.. is that along with mids and highs? or are you just accounting for bass? Im going to assume that youll be running at least another 1k in mids/highs

7krms..

Im more than positive that you can NOT fit a 7500 under the hood of your car. Your best bet is to go with a 3400 under hood, and 4 XP3000 in the rear. Alt you'll want to get the most productive, NOT BIGGEST, that will work in your vehicle. Lower RPM power is more important. As long as you can charge your reserves at a lower RPM you will be fine. A lot of people assume bigger is better, in some setups, yes, but for daily driving around town or a work commute, you'll be fine. You may want to look into running a dual bracket if possible, and get even more efficiency out of your charge.

But What Do I Know?

^didn't say he was going to put the 7500 in the front, and how many bigger alts have you ever seen that have lower output at low RPM's than a smaller alt? Also how much space do you have in your trunk? A box for multiple sp4s or XLs, a big ass amp, and then a couple batteries is going to take up some room.

Lower rpm is not that important unless you plan on playing at idle or below 1200rpm at full tilt, which most don't. Im not saying you should get a 400a alt that doesnt do jack shit at idle, but if 99% of your high volume play is when your vehicle is at 1500+ rpm... well, you arent looking for idle output.
