Mr DeeBeez
Recently my amp started to make a high pitch noise. It is not on all the time. It will come and go, and when it is making the noise, it will fade out and stop after a minute or two. Also, if i turn the amp off and back on, it will quit making the noise. I have removed the rca's and the gain knob and it still makes the noise. It is coming from the amp itself, not any speakers. Anyone have any ideas as to what it is? Here's a video of the noise. ShadeTreeMechanic
Power supply transistors are screaming like they are overloaded. Cutting out funky stuff? I have heard that mounting the amp to the box can cause problems. Might want to have it checked out. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
reedal
If you turn the gain down does it go away or get quieter? I noticed when setting the gain on SQ3500 that when the DD-1 reads distortion it makes a high pitched hum, but as soon as I back it down and the DD-1 LED goes out the noise stops. If your noise stops, it could be that, but if it only fades out/gets quieter or doesn't change, then I'm not sure. It could be picking up feedback from other electronics around it. What else do you have? Mr DeeBeez
I will check if it stops when I turn down the gain, but it only happens every couple of days, that's the strange part. And after a minute or two it stops on its own. I checked every connection and they are all solid. I'll just have to wait till the noise returns to try and turn gain down. But I have issues with some of my comms gear amplifiers where it makes that high pitched frequency depending on what else we have powered on in the shop. Ambient noise. Mr DeeBeez
It was making the noise today. I went to turn the gain down a little and the second i touched the dial, the noise stopped. I thought that may be it, but the next time I drove, it started doing it again. I started to turn the gain down again, but this time it did nothing. After about a minute, it stopped again, and hasn't made the noise since. The amp will make the noise regardless if i'm playing music or not. It doesn't seem to affect the amps performance at all tho Fi Team 18's (4) Crossfire 16k Crossfire 400.4 & 800.4 Pioneer AVH-X491bhs 140ah cmax CES 320's (2)
reedal
unless someone else chimes in, I say run it till it dies. It's already out of warranty being that it's the Q-3500 right? If it breaks, RMA it, pay the fee, go back at it SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=
MADVIBES
I recently had the same problem in my buddies honda civic, the only thing that cured it was running a constant power and a ground to the battery and not through the factory wiring, I am not sure what type of car you have but I seem to have problems always with the newer canbus style digital power systems the newer cars are running now DB DRAG PSYCHLONE PRO 156.3 30 SECOND AVERAGE FO MAX AT 26HZ LEGAL DASH DRIVER DOOR OPEN 158.0@30 HZ MY BEST SO FAR, HOPEFULLY A 160 COME FEBUARY. 156.9@26hz 158.0@30hz
