Wehan
I got my first hydraulic crimper, a 16 ton model and tried to do a few lugs but they look like total ass. I have Knu 1/0 OFC and SHCA 1/0 copper lugs. Was trying to use the #70 die but I'm doing something wrong. Striped off enough wire and put the terminal on and then held it all together as I pumped the crimper up and let it do it's thing, I get big ole nasty pinched wings on the sides of the lug so I flipped the lug 90* and tried to crush the wings down but that just made a whole lot of ugly, also I cant get the dies to bottom out, there is at least a 1/8" gap when the crimper gives up. Am I using to small of a die?
tboorn
most likely, i usually start with a larger diameter die, get it compressed a little, then swicth to the smaller die to fully compress it. you should be able to do it with one die if you find the correct size with the correct terminals Fidelity Built to Last Team Sound Asleep 24Runner Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/196657-24runner-sleeper-system-lots-of-fi-neo-dd-focal-new-video-w-juicebox-lithium/ 2 x 12" Fi BTL N2 / 2 x 12" Fi BTL N3 2 DD M3b Maxwell 2.7V 3000F Supercapacitors Pioneer DEH-80prs Focal P165 V30 components Rockford Fosgate T-400.

Am I using to small of a die? How much of the wire are you stripping off to make it fit in the terminal? Wehan
Stripping off about 1/2 inch or maybe a bit more, just enough so it fits but I'm not forcing it in there. I think I got it figured out. I was using a #70 die but I tried the next biggest one, #95 and it is working beautifully. I cant get the lug off the wire with all my strength. ShadeTreeMechanic
A lot of the car audio cable is oversized to the point where 1/0 is actually the size of 2/0. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
