I'm working a well paying job now and I'm wanting to seriously upgrade. I have about $550-$600 for the sub and amp alone. I'd like to be able to hit lows nicely so I was thinking either a good single 12, a nice pair of 12s or a good 15. I drive a single cab Ford F150 2013 which has quite a bit of room behind the seats for a big box. I can comfortably go up to 5cu ported. I'm looking for a nice daily driver. A bit of a mix between spl and sq (more spl). Can I get some advice for equipment in this price range?

Since you have a good amount of space, my suggestion would be a single 15. It would be cheaper than two lower RMS rated 12s, and the larger cone sizes tend to have smoother frequency response, all else being equal. For amplification, something in the 1,200 to 1,500 watts range should work well. You probably won't have to do any major electrical upgrades to your vehicle (other than the big 3), and those amps tend to be around the $300 range. One good combination would be a Twisted Sounds TS1.3K amp and something like a FI SSD 15 sub. This is just one example, there are lots of others that would work well too. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

Wehan Posted July 24, 2016 Report Posted July 24, 2016 I also recommend the FI SSD 15, you will have a wait time for FI to build it for you but it is hands down absolutely worth the wait (No, I'm not knocking the wait time so chill the hell out...you know who you are)
