SuperRed Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 To start, this isn't a vs thread. It's a simple comparison between a buddy and myself. It's not meant to be a competition. Just an eye opener on 2 drivers that are at our disposal currently. He is running 2 DD 2508's with esp and I'll be running the 2 x8's. They'll both be in vented enclosures. Both running off of similar power. And both in Ford Escape's. His, an '04 escape, is one that we dynamat'd awhile back and is running a second battery, with a kenwood double din. Mine, will be installed in my' 14 Escape. Stock electrical, with the stock MyFord Touch system using a lc2i level converter. It's going to be a build with a few different compared aspects. 1) space used. 2) sq 3) spl 4) design This will be a build post so if I'm in the wrong area, please correct me on that. And we will be updating with pics of the builds and installs as we make progress. Anyone have any thoughts as to what shall happen? Let the games begin ?
MACnonsence6 Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 my x8s are nasty although ive never heard DDs should be comparable i have a feeling the x8s will be able to get louder at lower notes I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. Tonight should be good haha.
Yellow1000 Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 I'm interested to see what we get. I'm his buddy with the two 2508s.
White Lightning Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 You can compare apples to oranges if you want, still reads like a verses thread to me ... You can have identical vehicles with identical setups and they will still have differences ... just saying Kenwood / HELIX / Linear Power (For The Love Of Music) / Brutal Sounds / OverKill Electric Co Questions About Sound Quality ?? Try Here ... Sound Quality, What does it REALLY mean ?? SMD SOTM Winner "White Lightning" 1997 GMT400 Chevy Silverado "The Green Dickle" 1994 GMT400 Chevy "Phantom Dually" Randal's 2007 Chevy Avalanche (we haven't named this one yet) Dylan's "Brutal" 17 Chevy Cruze RS Hatch
SuperRed Posted July 25, 2016 Author Report Posted July 25, 2016 Please elaborate on how 2 identical setups in identical vehicles, would perform differently? Also, yes I knew someone would still take this as a vs thread. But they would also be the ones missing the point. The educational, informative, differences between them.
Yellow1000 Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 this is not a normal versus scenario that normally pops up on here saying which is better brand do I buy brand X or brand Y, and that's what gets locked I understand that. Think of this as more of a comparison between two of what we see as some of the best 8 inch woofers on the market. We already have two of each. So we thought somebody might like to see just what the differences are between them on a term lab on the same power in the same vehicle , in two seperate vehicles.
n8ball2013 Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 This is ok they both own each. It's not really a fair comparison but so be it. SuperRed Posted July 25, 2016 Author Report Posted July 25, 2016 Yes. What isn't fair about the comparison? They're very similar woofer, as far as I can find...?
boom50cal Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 would be cool to swap enclosures in each vehicle. Run the x8's in their box in his car, record results vs 2508s. same with the DD's in your car. On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole.
