Think my new alt is not up to par. Or am i just expecting to much form what i have.

i see no problem going on there what so ever..... if you want a BIT more help at idle add reserve. I have no clue why your worried. :unknw:

My problem is idle output, I don't like dropping into 11s with my new 300 amp alt when,my factory alt would hold voltage about the same at idle, I now see my problems and will do what I need to to be happy and fix them. Going to take out the batcap, put in a big agm, and so a few runs of good wire

Easy to see. Clamp the thing. But i would do the runs of OFC and such. But,.... Clamp the thing, and then, you know. Not guessing.

Your alternator is constantly giving your batteries a float charge whenever the vehicle is on, hence the higher voltage compared to when it is off.

When you are drawing more current from your alternator then it support you run in to voltage drop.

If your wire can not support the current draw it heats up adds resistance and also will cause voltage drop

When your voltage drop goes below of the resting voltage of your batteries you are running out of reserve.
A fence is only as strong as its weakest link, in your case Im sure it is the wire not allowing the current to go from point a to point b in 1 pass.
Once you get that weakest link fixed you may have another, you may not.

The only way to tell is upgrade the wire and see where your at.

Knu wire is nice

And so is the sundown wire, both are pretty close price wise too.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

O I put this setup on the meter not to bad for 1 18 in a small box.. Will Dr going to a show next Saturday, hope to do well,
